Privacy Policy for Trimly
Last updated: 16 December 2025
Trimly (“Trimly”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Trimly mobile application (“the App”). It is designed to comply with Google Play’s Data Safety requirements and applicable data protection laws.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, a user ID generated by Firebase Authentication, and your display name (if provided). This data is required to create and manage your account.
1.2 User-Generated Content
Trimly only accesses photos and videos you explicitly select for editing as well as edited/exported media created in the app. We never scan or read files you don’t select.
1.3 App Usage & Crash Data
We use Firebase Crashlytics to capture crash logs, stack traces, device model/OS version, and app state at the time of failure. This helps us improve stability.
1.4 Local Device Data
Settings such as language preference, onboarding completion, and draft project metadata may be stored locally on your device. They remain on your device unless synced or backed up by you.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage user accounts
- Enable editing features and export media
- Sync projects where cloud storage is enabled
- Diagnose crashes and improve performance
3. Permissions Explained
- Internet: Needed for authentication, syncing, and cloud storage when enabled.
- Photos / Media / Files: Required to import files you select and export final renders. Trimly never touches unselected ones.
- Storage (legacy Android): Allows Trimly to save rendered videos on older OS versions.
The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or location unless a future feature explicitly requires it.
4. Data Sharing
We only share data with service providers essential to the app’s operation: Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Crashlytics). We do not sell data or share it for advertising purposes.
5. Data Security
All traffic uses HTTPS/TLS, and Firebase encrypts stored data at rest. Access is controlled via Firebase security rules, isolating each user’s data.
6. Data Retention
Personal data is retained while your account is active or as needed to deliver Trimly’s features. Crash logs are stored temporarily for diagnostics.
7. Account & Data Deletion
You can delete your account any time at https://trimlyapp-b933d.web.app/delete-account.html.
Deletion removes:
- Your authentication record
- Stored projects and metadata
Crash/diagnostic data may remain in anonymised form for system integrity. Some data may be retained briefly if required by law.
8. Purchases & Subscriptions
Trimly may offer optional in-app purchases or subscriptions in the future. All transactions are processed securely by Google Play. Trimly does not collect or store payment card details.
9. Children’s Privacy
Trimly isn’t intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Third-Party Links
External sites or apps launched from Trimly are governed by their own policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Changes are posted here with an updated “Last updated” date.
12. Third-Party Libraries & Acknowledgements
Trimly integrates third-party components that run locally on your device. In particular, we rely on the Pro Video Editor package maintained by Alex Fei, whose permissive license allows us to build Trimly’s timeline and editing experience. We keep upstream attribution intact and do not send your media or personal data to the library authors.
